CCTV gives boost to trade at Rose Hill shopping parade



TRADERS have welcomed plans to install CCTV cameras at Rose Hill’s shopping parade.

Oxford City Council has set aside £18,000 in next year’s budget for the work in response to concerns from businesses that groups of people loitering in the street were deterring customers.

There is no date yet confirmed for the installation, which will happen in the next financial year, and council officers will be working with the police on suitable locations for the cameras.

“Outside, the kids are playing and sometimes they can be very abusive. In a way it is affecting our businesses.”

He added: “I have been complaining for quite a while, so finally I will be really delighted. It is good news.
